The Who, What, Why and Where’s about ME!
Who Am i?
Well - lets see…I’m a mom, a partner, an image consultant, a sounding board, a friend and a source of inspiration. Sometimes I’m a referee and sometimes a therapist. I am also a designer who loves what she does, and designs for her clients, not herself.
what - DO I do?
Well…that kind of depends on you. For some, I am here to, bring out your inner design diva (bet you didn’t know she was hiding). For others, I am here to help you to create a welcoming, refreshing retreat, or a cozy family friendly hang out space. It all depends on YOU. That is my one hard and fast design rule, you, the client, HAVE to be happy. This doesn’t mean you’ll get everything you want (I’m not a fairy godmother), nor will you necessarily stay strictly in your comfort zone (where’s the fun in that?) But in the end it will be evident that this is YOUR home and you’ll love living there.
Why do I do what I do?
I’m creative by nature, always have been, just ask me about my “first Picasso”. And I am absolutely blessed to do what I do (and yes, I know how corny that sounds), but it’s true. I am like a mermaid when it comes to design, attracted to all types of shiny things (and some not so shiny), be it interiors, wallpaper, ceramics, furniture, lighting, art work! I love it all!. As each client and project are different it allows my “design mermaid” to play with and explore all types of design aesthetics and products through them. Truly a gift!
Where - did i come from?
I grew up in Swampscott, and graduated from UMass Amherst with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. Though I did not initially plan in a career in interior design my fine arts degree gave me a great foundation. I further built on this foundation with a combination of design courses and on the job experience designing interiors for my clients while working in retail furniture. My retail career eventually lead me to South Florida where I met my now ex-husband and and was introduced to “green” design through a local interior designer who not only specialized in environmentally friendly interiors, but was also a pioneer in the field. I had the privilege of working for her as the Assistant Design Director for Eco Décor, an award winning environmental firm located in North Palm Beach. While with the firm I earned the designation of a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional), and was part of a design team which won the 2009 ASID South Florida Design Excellence award for Sustainable Design for a commercial project.
2009 was quite the year bringing BIG changes to our lives, moving back to New England and the birth of our son. After taking some time off to be with my lil’ man, the creative drive once again took hold and I joined the work force once again for a local interior designer with a retail shop. Though short lived, that job gave me the opening and ability to venture out on my own. In 2011 I started Megan Meyers Interiors. Nine years later my business is still going strong, ever evolving and changing just like the rest of life.
I currently live in Marblehead with a full house (my son Sammy, partner Dan, his two kids and our two fur babies)!
