This was one of the most interesting staging jobs we have yet to encounter. Our client had lived in her home for over 30 years, most of which were spent with there with her husband - a Harvard Professor of Celtic Languages. Our clients husband had passed away several years ago and she had made the decision to start the next chapter of her life.
The couple had an extensive collection of books - many of which were priceless artifacts. The books were housed on shelves which had been built onto the walls, and in many cases up and over the windows and door ways. This was great for a family of bibliophiles - but overwhelming for potential buyers coming in to view the property.
We began by having our client cull through the books and remove as many as possible - she was downsizing and was not going to take the majority of the collection with her. We color coded the books in the living room to provide a more neutral background around the windows and cleared other areas to be used for display.
Though the process was difficult for us and even more so for our client the end result exceeded our expectations. The property sold in less than a week and for significantly more than the asking price.
